A snood is a type of holder for the hair. It can be made of solid cloth, or knitted or crocheted, like this pattern. This snood matches the oval shell bag and would look so much better than a cheap hair accessory purchased at a department store.
Materials: J & P Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen, 1 ball of any color. Steel crochet hook No. 4. 1 yd grosgrain ribbon, 1 3/4 inches wide. 11 inches of round elastic.
Make all chains loosely. To make foundation chain: * Ch 4, sc in back loop of last ch (forming a knot). Repeat from * until piece measures 12 inches.
1ST ROW: Sc in center ch between 4th and 5th knots from hook, * (ch 3, sc in back loop of last ch) twice, ch 3, sc in center ch between next 2 knots. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last ch. (Ch 3, sc in back loop of last ch) twice, ch 3, turn.
2ND ROW: Sc in 1st loop, * (ch 3, sc in back loop of last ch) twice, ch 3, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across. (Ch 3, sc in back loop of last ch) twice, ch 3, turn. Repeat last row 20 more times. Fasten off. Attach thread to 1 end of foundation chain, into each loop of foundation chain, into each loop of foundation chain make 6 sc. Attach round elastic to snood at this point. Continue around working scís into the loops and over elastic to corresponding position at start of foundation chain. Fasten this end of elastic securely. Cut ribbon in half and sew to snood at both ends of foundation chain. Put snood on as in illustration and trim ends of ribbon.
