Teardrop Trivet or Wall Plaque
You can use this pattern as a trivet or hang it as a wall plaque, by itself, or with the circle and star designs. Made with black yarn, it has the look of wrought iron.
Materials for set of all three designs: LILY DOUBLE QUICK, Art. 50, in Black: 2 skeins; No. 3 Steel Crochet Hook, 10 plastic rings, 1 inch size.
Size: 5–3/4 x 9 inches
CENTER: Ch 29, join with sl st to form ring.
RND 1: Ch 2, hdc in next ch, (2 hdc in next ch, hdc in next 2 ch) 9 times hdc in sl st, join with sl st in ch-2, sl st in next 2 hdc.
RND 2: Ch 27, keeping lp on hook, sl st in 6th st to right on Center; ch 1, sc in 1st ch, hdc in 6 ch, (2 hdc in next ch, hdc in next 2 ch) 4 times, 2 hdc in next ch, hdc in 6 ch, se in next ch, sl in same hdc at base of lp. Fasten off. Attach to l2th st up right side of lp and working around Center from left to right, * (ch 25, sl st in 4th st to right around Center, ch 1, sc in 1st ch, hdc in 12 ch) * 3 times, ch 30, sl st in next 5th st on Center, ch 1, sc in 1st ch, hdc in 17 ch; ch 35, sl st in same st on Center, ch 1, sc in 1st ch, hdc in 17 ch; ch 25, sl st in next 5th st on Center, ch 1, sc in 1st ch, hdc in 12 ch; repeat from * to * twice; ch 12, join to l2th st up side of 1st lp.
RND 3: Ch 1 and working from right-to-left, * 2 sc in 1st ch of next sp, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, holding back the last lp of each dc on hook, make dc in next 2 ch, Y 0 and draw thru all 3 lps on hook at same time (Cluster made), dc in next 2 ch made into a cluster, hdc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, 2 sc across end of next bar; repeat from * to * 3 times; 2 sc in 1st ch of next sp, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, sc in 5 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in 5 ch, 2 sc in next ch, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, 2 sc on next bar; repeat from * to * 4 times, omitting the last 2 sc in final repeat. Sc in next 2 hdc on next lp, ** ch 4, 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 3, sl st, in sc in same hdc with last sc, sl st in next hdc, ch 5, tr in same st, tr in next 3 sts, ch 5, sl st in same st with last tr, sc in next st; repeat from ** to **.
RND 4. Working in back lps, sc in 1st 3 sc on next sp, * hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 3 sts, sc in next 4 sts, sl st in next st, ** sc in next 4 sc; * repeat from * to * 3 times hdc in next 8 sc, 5 hdc in next (center) st, hdc in next 8 sc, sc in next 3 sc, sl st in next sc, sc in next 4 sc; repeat from * to * 3 times and from * to ** again. Fasten off. Make 2 pieces. With backs facing, sew tog. across both edges of all sections.
RING: Attach to ring, ch 1, 32 sc in ring, join to back lp of 1st sc.
RND 2: Sl st in back lp of each sc around; join, fasten off. Sew to top (tr) piece. Starch and block.
